The Raelians

When I was up doing my morning routine today, I tuned in to the Science Channel as usual and the subject of human cloning came up. now in American society, when one mentions human cloning, expect to get looks of “eeww” or “yuck” or just plain weird looks. Americans, being schizophrenic in their views of morality think nothing of genocide in far off places like Iraq and Afganistan, but mention something about the human body in the public forum, we hide under rocks and quote the Bible. Now I don’t know diddley squat about cloning at all, be it animal or human, that’s why I’m throwing this out there for debate by people who might happen by and enlighten me and others about the subject. My education, be it college or self taught never covered cloning.

But what got my attention when viewing this program was the mention of a group called the Raelians. The Raelians were founded by Claude Vorilhon, a former French journalist. Vorilhon claims that …to have been taken up in a spaceship by a 4-foot-tall, green-skinned, long-haired, oval-eyed alien who directed him to write a book revealing the identities of the aliens as the creators of human beings. The aliens reportedly called him Rael.”

I have heard variations of humans being uplifted or created by aliens before, Zecharia Sitchin is another proponent of this view. But Vorilhon, or Rael as he his now known, claims to have been given enlightened information from these “Elohim” (Biblical term) or aliens concerning human cloning.

The Raelians have also claimed to have actually cloned two human embryos that have been carried to term. One was in America and the other in Europe. I don’t know about the validity of these claims.

Here are some sources and let me know what you all think.

  1. More work today. Check out stuff later. 😉

Some people have all the luck. Why do these events happen to other people and not me? It’s fucked up, dad.

I want to believe. No, strike that. I DO believe.

It’s like the lottery, Chris. The more people in it, the less chance you have. With six billion other souls on this planet to compete against, you’re SOL.

Luck has nothing to do with it.

    😉

Did I just contradict myself, there? (SOL) 😆

Anyway… luck has nothing to do with it.

  5. This guy is real tinfoil and there’s no way to confirm or refute the groups claims. There’s real geneticists working for them also in order to even attempt to pull this off.

The morality issue is cloning for family issues because some couples are unable to have children and governments can clone armies ala Star Wars. Which way to weigh?

  6. Hey, I have actually heard of those guys, The Raelians!

It’s really interesting… the cloning aspect.. Pros and cons on that issue.

  7. You heard of the Raelians Suzie? I think I heard of them back in 2002 when the claim was made that they cloned a human being.
Some scientists claim that was bunk, some Christian groups said it was the work of the Devil. I don’t know, it’s the Frankenstein thing sort of, it can be a tool for good or evil.

  8. Right off the bat I gotta tell you I don’t trust this guy with the big medallion on his neck. He’s like a cowboy with a big buckle, You know…like he has never roped a steer or even rode fence. He says his is a naturalist religion, but goes against the laws of nature, like authoritarians usually do. Ya give a monkey a shotgun and a bunch of shells and you have real trouble. As far as genetic engineering goes, mother nature is doing a fine job, and if we forget about the engineering and observe the natural reversion toward harmony for the life forms around here maybe we can survive a little longer. This is especially true for the plantlife on the planet.

Who knows, maybe Claude Vorilhon has drank too much clonaide and has been cloned himself by the Raelians. Thats no reason that he should worship them though, unless he thinks that they are the highest authority in the universe.Hmmm…or should I say multiverse?

  9. Yeah, I’ve noticed that too, any yahoo that comes by with some new “wisdom” wears some attention getting gadget, i.e., medalions, dark glasses, new sneakers, etc.

It must give the subjects something to focus on other than their bullsh*t.

    Good catch geezer-dude! 😉
