“As the curve starts to steep…”

The Hollywood blockbuster, The Golden Compass, adapted from the first volume of Pullman’s classic sci-fi trilogy, “His Dark Materials” portrays various universes as only one reality among many, but how realistic is this kind of classic sci-fi plot? While it hasn’t been proven yet, many highly respected and credible scientists are now saying there’s reason to believe that parallel dimensions could very well be more than figments of our imaginations.

It would be a bummer if the multiverse theory turned out to be bunk, it would ruin of number of my story plots!

But read the article, it is interesting and as you will find, the multiverse theory is alive and well!

Parallel Universes: Are They More than a Figment of Our Imagination?

People using free Google Earth software can seemingly fly past more than 6,500 buildings that stood in the city at the peak of the Roman Empire in 320 AD.

Online visitors can swoop in for close-ups of structures and peruse pop-up information “bubbles” written by historians.

Some buildings feature full interiors. Internet surfers can visit the Roman Forum; linger in the center of the Colosseum; pass through the Arch of Constantine and follow in the footsteps of gladiators in the Ludus Magnus.

Rome is the first ancient city recreated at Google Earth, an interactive online Atlas that provides tools and technology that enable people to explore the world.

Wow, the GooglePlex is getting pretty good at building from sci-fi predictions.

Read Sir Arthur C. Clarke’s and Stephen Baxter’s ‘The Light of Other Days‘ written in 2000.

There, you will find almost the same concept being used.

Apple’s latest patent application reveals that they’re continuing to look into personal virtual reality headsets. The February 2008 application is titled “Automatically adjusting media display in a personal display system” and details a “personal display system” which can give “the impression of being in the theater.”

Man, and you think an iPod is expensive now!

Wait until this thing hits the market!

But y’know, it’ll sell because people are turning inward to escape from the world.

Of course, the GooglePlex is just ‘salivating’ its nodes at the very usefulness of this tool.
