The RAND of UFO and/or Nazi Space Tech

In recent posts I have either written or ‘cut and pasted’ about the Pentagon’s technology arm, DARPA, enabling it to receive a lot of attention and deservedly so.

The ‘black tech’ they are engaged in has the ability to affect not only the people in this nation (US), but other nations across the planet because of the Pentagon’s reach.

But there is a think tank that is DARPA’s ‘grand-daddy’ and has the same reach and has had as much, if not more influence on the Pentagon’s reach around the world.

The RAND Corporation’s (Research And Development) history dates back to the end of WWII (1946) and was a project of the Army Air Force. From its very inception, the RAND corporation has been involved in the blackest of the black tech, mainly in the technology of space flight.

According to author and researcher Anthony Bragalia ( records are scanty on this guy ), RAND from the beginning was involved in the ‘back engineering’ of UFO technology to be adapted to the US Army Air Force’s nacent space program:

From its very inception, the men of RAND knew much about saucers.

RAND was conceived by Donald Douglas, CEO of Douglas Aircraft (and a protege of Dr. Jerome Hunsaker at MIT) along with two military officer luminaries. These officers carried with them significant “UFO histories.” The officers behind RAND were Major General Curtis LeMay (the US Air Force’s Chief of Development) and General Hap Arnold (considered the “father” of the modern U.S. Air Force.)

In May of 1948 RAND was separated from Douglas Aircraft and became its own operating entity. Among RAND’s earliest government reports was the release of the enigmatically titled, “Preliminary Design of an Experimental World-Circling Spaceship.”

LeMay expressed deep interest and concern about the flying saucer phenomena. More than this, LeMay himself was a keeper of the purported 1947 Roswell UFO crash debris.

This was revealed in a stunningly candid interview with the late U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater. Goldwater (a former U.S. Presidential Candidate, Major General and Command Pilot) was General LeMay’s professional associate and close friend. LeMay’s UFO involvement was related by Goldwater in a live worldwide broadcast with CNN’s Larry King in 1994. The USAF had just issued its report that debunked the Roswell crash of 1947 as a Mogul balloon. Goldwater (who died just a few years later) informed King that he knew the truth to be far different.

The Roswell Mystery again rears it’s ugly head and it is the ‘Thing that will not Die’, even after all these years.

I’m not going to try to explain Roswell. Many, many more people experienced than I have researched this to death and there’s still no satisfactory answer and I suspect there never will be.

That doesn’t mean that the RAND corporation wasn’t researching advanced space tech in secret, oh no.

It is no secret the military and the various ‘alphabet soup’ spy agencies have used the UFO phenomenon over the past 65 years to cover up black-tech projects. Area 51 is the chief example in this. I’m proposing that RAND was researching a source more down to Earth.

So to speak.

The Nazi government was into more, let’s say, ‘non-conventional’ military research in 1944 to 1945 as they grew more desperate to beat back Allied advances toward their country.

One of those ideas was to produce a ‘world encircling’ space ship that would be able to bomb enemy territories hours after launch:

In its operation, the Antipodal Bomber was a hybrid of aircraft and orbital spacecraft. It was to take off from a special rocket sled running on a monorail. When it reached 1640 ft/sec, it would lift off and climb to operational altitude in a steep, near-ballistic trajectory. But the Silver Bird would shut down its engines before attaining orbital velocity. It would sink back to earth until it bounced off the upper edge of the atmosphere. The bomber would proceed to the target like a stone skipping over the surface of a pond. After dropping its weapons, it would continue on around the globe to its base.

As near as we know, the Sänger aerospace plane got no closer to the hardware stage than the afore- mentioned wind-tunnel models. Germany’s other notable manned space venture, on the other hand, was a member of the V2 rocket family. Many of its elements were actually tested using sub-scale, V2 components. The A9/A10 project was a two-stage, hypersonic, semi-ballistic manned bomber with a planned 3000-mile range. Taking the aerodynamics of the experimental, winged A4b version of the V2 for their starting point, the engineers at Germany’s Peenemünde rocket center added a pressurized cockpit, landing gear, flaps, ailerons, elevators, and a turbojet sustainer engine. They planned to mount this A9 on a huge A10 booster, in essence a V2 grown to monstrous proportions.

The A9/A10 composite would take off vertically. After staging, the A9 component would follow a ballistic trajectory to the edge of space, 210 miles up. It would then fall back to earth until, 750 miles from its base, at an altitude of about 30 miles, and at speeds of over 8000 mph, the wingborne portion of the flight began. The A9 would approach its target in a high-Mach, unpowered glide. Forty-five minutes into the mission, it would release its modest one-ton bomb load, start the turbojet, and turn for home.

The most ambitious and, perhaps, delusional of the Nazi space schemes was a 1945 project for an orbital space station armed with a death ray, a huge space mirror. In 1929, Herman Oberth had proposed a potentially practical space station that served as the basis for the later project. But the 1945 station was to be one giant mirror fabricated entirely from metallic sodium. Over-sized V2 rockets were to carry the thing to its 1500-mile orbit in prefabricated sections. Here, Nazi spacemen would assemble it , using electricity provided by a system of solar-fired boilers and steam-driven dynamos. Breathable oxygen would come from pumpkins grown under flourescent light. When they were finished, the crew would steer the station over target nations, focus the sun’s rays, and burn cities and boil reservoirs.

The space station is patently ridiculous, even today. It is hard to say how practical either of the rocket plane schemes could have been either, given the state of the art in the 1940s and the ever-worsening shortages of rare metals and petrochemicals. The German engineers appear to have grossly underestimated the thermal loads on a winged re-entry vehicle. These would not be on the order of an Apollo capsule, but they would still pose a formidable problem. Stainless steel might not be up to the job and was hard to fabricate. Titanium was still in the future. Inconel and the nimonic alloys that made the X-15 possible were still a few years away. Even now, the only working aerospace plane, the Space Shuttle, has to have ceramic tiles over all highly heated surfaces. Propulsion would also be a problem. As the new masters of German science, the US and USSR, discovered in the 1950s, V2-type engines could not simply be scaled up in the manner planned for the A10. Sänger-style, single-stage-to-orbit systems are still no more than a dream after sixty years.

Even if the A9/A10 or the Antipodal Bomber had been built and made to work, one wonders what it would all be for. A paltry ton of high explosive could hardly have a measurable effect on the war. It could never justify either program’s staggering cost in money, raw materials, and industrial capacity. Some writers have suggested that one or both was an intended delivery vehicle for a Nazi nuclear weapon. But the Nazis had no hope of fielding an A-bomb by 1944 or 1945. In any case, it would be decades before nuclear weapons could be had in 2000-4000 lb packages (the Hiroshima and Nagasaki weapons weighed in at around 10,000 lbs each). The Nazi space program is thus best understood as little more than a self-indulgent delusion, one of many that occupied Germany’s bunker-bound leadership and self-serving intelligentsia as disaster and defeat overtook the nation they professed to lead.

Could this be what RAND’s “Preliminary Design of an Experimental World-Circling Spaceship” report is actually about?

And the military just happened to fortuitously use the Roswell Incident as cover? Or actually create the incident?

We’ll probably never know the truth. Everything is a puzzle within a puzzle wrapped in an enigma.

And in that, the MICC spin meisters have accomplished their mission.

All we can do is throw opinions out there and perhaps hook a big fish.

Our good friends at the high-tech Pentagon company DARPA, has another goody waiting in the pipeline to perpetuate the Empire and bring death and destruction faster and deadlier through-out the world; high speed, deeper diving submarines.

The latest class of submarines can travel at more than 25 knots submerged.But what if the Navy had a much smaller submarine that could travel four times as fast?

”The real reason we buy nuclear submarines instead of non-nuclear ones is that we’re not protecting the Gulf of Mexico,” said retired Navy Capt. James Patton Jr., president of Submarine Tactics and Technology in North Stonington. “We go halfway around the world, real quick. We get there and we stay there. Anything that would allow you to get a platform somewhere a long ways away pretty quickly would have great military value.”

That is why the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, which commissions research for the Defense Department, has given Electric Boat millions of dollars to design a vehicle that could potentially transport high-value cargo or small groups of people at 100 knots (about 115 miles an hour) in a program known as “Underwater Express.”

The technology, if developed, could revolutionize ocean transportation if it could be adapted to cargo and passenger ships.

The vehicle would travel inside a large gas bubble created in the water, a process known as supercavitation. The bubble reduces drag, since the drag is much lower in air than in water, allowing the vehicle to travel at high speeds.

Supercavitation is not new. The technology has been applied to weapons, but never to transport vehicles, according to DARPA.

”What we’re trying to do is come up with the sweet spot where science meets practicality,” said Franz Edson, EB’s director of submarine payload integration and strategic weapon systems. “The problem with the technology, the science, was you couldn’t go very far, you didn’t have any endurance and you couldn’t maneuver very well, so it was really kind of limited practicality.

”What these guys here have come up with is a way to dramatically increase the endurance and maneuverability of a body in supercavitating flight, so now you can really start to do things with it.”

Blowing out air to create the bubble that envelops the vehicle is wasteful, and a vehicle can only carry so much compressed air, so Jack Chapman, an engineer at EB, came up with a way to “mitigate that issue,” Edson said.

Exactly how is the gas-bubble creation process managed efficiently? Well, that’s a secret.

”It’s revolutionary, but we can’t tell you what it is,” said Jennifer Panosky, program manager of advanced programs and future payloads at EB.

”It’s not something we want other people to be aware of,” Edson said. “We’ve proven it works. We’ve set records for the longest supercavitating flight in a water tunnel. This has the potential to change ocean transportation.

”Ships would be much more fuel-efficient, or could use the same amount of fuel and instead of taking two weeks to get across the Pacific, they could get across in a matter of days. It’s pretty slick.”

DARPA has given EB about $26 million so far for the project, with another $12 million expected by the end, said Panosky.

EB initially pitted its design against one from Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems in Maryland. EB was chosen to build a quarter-scale unmanned vehicle, based on the concept of a full-scale size of 8 feet in diameter and 100 feet in length, for a demonstration in spring 2010 in the waters off Rhode Island.

The demonstration will include a 10-minute run at speeds of up to 100 knots with maneuvers, including depth control, to show the controllability of the vehicle, according to a DARPA statement.

At that point, the program will conclude and the technology will be available to the Navy for use in future systems as desired, according to DARPA.

This ‘revolutionary development’ interests me a bit. It’s like creating an underwater ‘warp-bubble’ that enables the sub to become more ‘aerodynamic’ under water so it can go faster.

From what I understand from the article, the original method utilizes air to create the bubble that encircles the vessel ( torpedo/missile ).

I wonder just what this new development entails?

What fascinates me the most, this revelation ( revolutionary development )coincides with this tidbit from Russia:

The Russian navy has declassified its records of encounters with unidentified objects technologically surpassing anything humanity ever built, reports Svobodnaya Pressa news website.

The records dating back to soviet times were compiled by a special navy group collecting reports of unexplained incidents delivered by submarines and military ships. The group was headed by deputy Navy commander Admiral Nikolay Smirnov, and the documents reveal numerous cases of possible UFO encounters, the website says.

Vladimir Azhazha, former navy officer and a famous Russian UFO researcher, says the materials are of great value.

 “Fifty percent of UFO encounters are connected with oceans. Fifteen more – with lakes. So UFOs tend to stick to the water,” he said.

On one occasion a nuclear submarine, which was on a combat mission in the Pacific Ocean, detected six unknown objects. After the crew failed to leave behind their pursuers by maneuvering, the captain ordered to surface. The objects followed suit, took to the air, and flew away.

Many mysterious events happened in the region of Bermuda Triangle, recalls retired submarine commander Rear Admiral Yury Beketov. Instruments malfunctioned with no apparent reason or detected strong interference. The former navy officer says this could be deliberate disruption by UFOs.

“On several occasions the instruments gave reading of material objects moving at incredible speed. Calculations showed speeds of about 230 knots, of 400 kph. Speeding so fast is a challenge even on the surface. But water resistance is much higher. It was like the objects defied the laws of physics. There’s only one explanation: the creatures who built them far surpass us in development,” Beketov said.

Could it be that these underwater objects utilized the same method that DARPA is studying for future submarines?

Does DARPA/Pentagon have a captured underwater UFO for study to back-engineer? Did the Russians for that matter? And why didn’t they copy the technology themselves?

Maybe there’s no connection at all and it’s just coincidence?

In the past 36 hours this blog has been bombarded with thousands of hits, after a Drudge Report-type site linked to part one of the Gus Grissom/Barackobamun piece. There were the usual corny old jokes about “tinfoil hats” and all of the rest of the worn-out snark in the comments sections (along with some stunning displays of poor reading comprehension), but that represents only a tiny percentage of the traffic. Having been on the internet for the better part of the last two decades, I recognize defensive ironic distancing when I see it.

What’s more, I’m noticing that other sites are picking up on the meme. It’s too soon to say how resonant the meme will become, but it did get me looking at Obama’s possible Grissom obsession again (and that’s what I was writing about- not a conspiracy, per se.)

In the first few seconds of doing so, I found this speech to the National Academy of Sciences on April 27, 2009. Although it was a more general (read: “boring”) gabfest on science and technology, Barackobamun spoke about his support for the space colonization program:

My budget includes $150 billion over 10 years to invest in sources of renewable energy as well as energy efficiency. It supports efforts at NASA, recommended as a priority by the National Research Council, to develop new space-based capabilities to help us better understand our changing climate.

And he even snuck in the Magic(k) Number:

America’s young people will rise to the challenge if given the opportunity — if called upon to join a cause larger than themselves. We’ve got evidence. You know, the average age in NASA’s mission control during the Apollo 17 mission was just 26. I know that young people today are just as ready to tackle the grand challenges of this century.

So what’s the big deal about this speech? Nothing, really. Except it took place of 5o years to the day after Gus Grissom was chosen by NASA for the Mercury Project.

Ion engine could power 39 day trips to Mars

Finally, NASA’s taking notice of an exotic technology: Via New Scientist:

There’s a growing chorus of calls to send astronauts to Mars rather than the moon, but critics point out that such trips would be long and gruelling, taking about six months to reach the Red Planet. But now, researchers are testing a powerful new ion engine that could one day shorten the journey to just 39 days.

Traditional rockets burn chemical fuel to produce thrust. Most of that fuel is used up in the initial push off the Earth’s surface, so the rockets tend to coast most of the time they’re in space.

Ion engines, on the other hand, accelerate electrically charged atoms, or ions, through an electric field, thereby pushing the spacecraft in the opposite direction. They provide much less thrust at a given moment than do chemical rockets, which means they can’t break free of the Earth’s gravity on their own.

But once in space, they can give a continuous push for years, like a steady breeze at the back of a sailboat, accelerating gradually until they’re moving faster than chemical rockets.

Several space missions have already used ion engines, including NASA’s Dawn spacecraft, which is en route to the asteroids Vesta and CeresMovie Camera, and Japan’s spacecraft Hayabusa, which rendezvoused with the asteroid Itokawa in 2005.

But a new engine, called VASIMR (Variable Specific Impulse Magnetoplasma Rocket), will have much more “oomph” than previous ones. That’s because it uses a radio frequency generator, similar to transmitters used to broadcast radio shows, to heat the charged particles, or plasma.

The engine is being developed by the Ad Astra Rocket Company, which was founded in 2005 by plasma physicist and former space shuttle astronaut Franklin Chang-Diaz.

As hot as the sun

VASIMR works something like a steam engine, with the first stage performing a duty analogous to boiling water to create steam. The radio frequency generator heats a gas of argon atoms until electrons “boil” off, creating plasma. This stage was tested for the first time on 2 July at Ad Astra’s headquarters in Webster, Texas.

The plasma could produce thrust on its own if it were shot out of the rocket, but not very efficiently. To optimise efficiency, the rocket’s second stage then heats the ions to about a million degrees, a temperature comparable to that at the centre of the sun.

It does this by taking advantage of the fact that in a strong magnetic field – like those produced by superconducting magnets in the engine, ions spin at a fixed frequency. The radio frequency generator is then tuned to that same frequency, injecting extra energy into the ions.

High power

Strong magnetic fields then channel the plasma out the back of the engine, propelling the rocket in the opposite direction.

Thanks to the radio frequency generator, VASIMR can reach power levels a hundred times as high as other engines, which simply accelerate their plasma by sending it through a series of metal grids with different voltages. In that setup, ions colliding with the grid tend to erode it, limiting the power and lifetime of the rocket. VASIMR’s radio frequency generator gets around that problem by never coming into contact with the ions.

“It’s the most powerful superconducting plasma source ever, as far as we know,” says Jared Squire, director of research at Ad Astra.

Scientists at Ad Astra began tests of the engine’s second stage – which heats the plasma – last week. So far, team members have run the two-stage engine at a power of 50 kilowatts. But they hope to ramp up to 200 kW of power in ongoing tests, enough to provide about a pound of thrust. That may not sound like much, but in space it can propel up to two tonnes of cargo, reaching Jupiter in about 19 months from a starting position relatively close to the sun, says Squire.

Orbital boosts

Ad Astra and NASA have agreed to test fire the rocket in space, attached to the International Space Station in 2012 or 2013. Potentially, VASIMR could provide the periodic boosts needed to keep the ISS in its orbit.

At its current power level, VASIMR could be run entirely on solar energy. Squire says it would make a good Earth-orbit tugboat, pulling satellites to different orbits. It could also shuttle cargo to a lunar base, and because it could travel relatively quickly, it could be deployed to dangerous asteroids to gravitationally nudge them off course years before they would reach Earth.

To travel to Mars in 39 days, however, the engine would need 1000 times more power than solar energy could provide. For that, VASIMR would need an onboard nuclear reactor. Early versions of the reactor technology were used from the 1960s to the 1980s by the Soviet Union, but have not been used in space since and would take time to develop. “That would be quite a ways down the line,” Squire says.

The New World Order of the Coming Neo-Middle Age

History repeats itself. Any person with a modicum of common sense or awareness knows that. Human civilization is replete with mighty empires and kingdoms that have over-extended themselves and suffered a fall; either slowly or spectacularly. Recently, it was the mighty USSR ( Soviet Union ) that suffered the inevitable fall of empire, leaving the ‘Stan’ Republics to fend for themselves.

Now, it is the American Federal Empire that is feeling the pressures of over-extension, currency devaluation and economic fatigue. The AFE is the largest Western Empire to start disintegrating since the Romans 1570 years ago ( Unless you count the British Empire, but in comparison of  political control and era in time, the Roman Empire had greater influence ). The Empire’s leadership and population are currently going through the ‘denial’ stage of this Fall and like in all deaths, this is grief in the fullest.

So how does the NWO fit in all this? Well, the elites historically have always been ‘ultra-national’ or more likely ‘ultra-sovereign.’ They have hidden in priesthoods, ministries, lodges, secret societies, brotherhoods and more recently; banks, financial institutions and multinational/mega-corporations.

In other words, the power behind the thrones.

When the AFE finally Falls, there will be many power vacuums throughout the world, but not too many governments are going to shrink and die away since the AFE is an Empire of military bases. Now some countries might try to fill in the power vacuum, like when America draws back from the South China Sea leaving Taiwan, Japan and South Korea vulnerable to Chinese advancement. That doesn’t mean that China will aspire to World Empire, it’ll merely be taking back what traditionally has been its sphere of influence.

More than likely it’ll be more likely that ‘city-states’ will re-emerge as power bases for a time, since mega-corps are borderless and have cities like New York, London, Brussels, Geneva, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo as their main base of operations.

Author Parag Khanna of the elitist think tank ( To me, all think tanks are elitist! ) New America Foundation puts this to the point:

[…] The classical world is defined by the flourishing of Greece; the Middle Ages followed the sacking of Rome; the European Renaissance led to the formation of nation states that organized the world in their image; and in the 21st century, Europe is pioneering the post-nation state regionalism and corresponding postmodern governance that is also being adopted around the world. Already we can see hints of the world going Europe’s way. Just consider the ongoing global financial crisis: ever more observers foresee the need for a balance between American capitalism and inflexible, overly managed statism. The right mix is European-style, social democratic capitalism.

First let us take a step back and see how the global landscape has already come to resemble a crucial period of European history, namely the Middle Ages. It was a long and uncertain period, and thus an ideal metaphor for our times. It was an age of plagues and progress, commercial revolutions, expanding empires, crusades, city-states, merchants, and universities. The new middle ages — synonymous with our postmodern globalization age — have already begun.

What makes this an NWO affair is this distinct Eurozone style “neofeudalism” that might result from the dominant American style of laisse-faire capitalism that has influenced the world for the past sixty-five years that is currently crashing down about its’ ears. The Rothschilds will probably re-emerge to claim a more socialistic world that will demand it and the Rockefellers will be left the dregs of the American continent.

So what will the future world look like?

Today’s list of “global cities” — New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Sao Paulo, London, Dubai, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo — will also include Alexandria, Karachi, Istanbul, and others. Then as now, city-states are commercial hubs all but divorced from their national anchor, reminding that corporate actors will be paramount well into the future. Today’s sovereign wealth funds, fused with city-state savvy, will be tomorrow’s Hanseatic League, forming capital networks that radiate the newest technologies to those in their proximity. Hamburg and Dubai have just signed an agreement to boost bilateral trade and technical cooperation. City-states will pay for their protection as global security privatizes further into corporate hands, the knights, mercenaries, and condottieri of the 21st century.The Middle Ages witnessed innovations from the cannon to the compass, all geared toward enhanced global exploration. So too will the speed of communication and transport bring us ever closer toward simultaneity. As the ranks of billionaires soars beyond Gates, Branson, and Ambani, mega-philanthropists will become the postmodern Medicis, financing explorations in outer space and the deep sea, governing territory and production like medieval princes.

Okay, so the Rothschilds will have to share the world with the nuevo-riche Gates and Bransons, but the thing is, there’s only so many billionaires!

So much wealth will be in the hands of so few!

And that’s what will make the world feudalistic and give much joy to the NWO elites!

As history has shown, there will be an apocalypse after the Fall of Empire, there always is. And there will be proclaimations of the Second Coming of Christ, the Twelth Imam, the Technological Singularity or Alien Brothers that will come and save us from our travails.

But there will be no saving.

Just the living, struggling and suffering there always has been during human history.

Until the next Empire comes along.

A postmodern Middle Ages

Only NASA wants its’ astronauts back:

It is often described as “the final frontier”, and not just by those who follow the adventures of Captain Kirk and the crew of the USS Enterprise. The phrase, though, may take an even more literal meaning for those exploring space in the future.

The next generation of astronauts may hurtle through the cosmos for years or decades on a mission to explore distant planets and stars – and never return.

A senior Nasa official has told the Guardian that the world’s space agencies, or the commercial firms that may eventually succeed them, could issue one-way tickets to space, with the travellers accepting that they would not come back.

The prospect of spending years cooped in a spacecraft would not deter people from applying, he said.

“You would find no shortage of volunteers,” said John Olson, Nasa’s director of exploration systems integration. “It’s really no different than the pioneering spirit of many in past history, who took the one-way trip across the ocean, or the trip out west across the United States with no intention of ever returning.”

In May 1961, President John F Kennedy challenged the US to put a man on the moon by the end of the decade and return him safely to Earth. In an effort costing an estimated $1.4tn in 2009 dollars, Apollo 11astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first humans to set foot on the moon 40 years ago today. Now, Nasa hopes to reignite the public’s interest in manned space flight and win support for a massive investment in new trips to space.

If, as Olson predicts, humans reach Mars by the middle of this century, engineers and astronauts may then set their sights on the frozen planets, fiery moons and stars beyond.

I have a suggestion; how about us old, sick, but still able to use our brains ‘almost seniors’ volunteer to take these missions?

We’ve already have our kids, we have grand-kids yeah, but some of us have chronic illnesses that will kill us sooner than later. So cosmic radiation would be no issue.

They’d get more mileage out of us than robots any day!\

A bill has been introduced in the U.S. Senate to ban human-animal hybrid research. Senators Sam Brownback (R-Kansas) and Mary Landrieu (D-Louisiana) have introduced in Congress the Human-Animal Hybrid Prohibition Act of 2009 (S. 1435). With 20 co-sponsors of the measure thus far, Landrieu is the only Democrat among that group.

 Dr. David Prentice of the Family Research Council tells OneNewsNow many people will fight against the bill. “There are already scientists who are planning and starting experiments to combine human and animal hybrid embryos for experiment,” he notes.

 The bill does not affect use of animals or humans in legitimate research, but would ban creation in the laboratory of part-human, part-animal creatures that would blur the line between the species.
 
Dr. Prentice says scientists that favor hybrid research believe the experiments will cure disease and be important to medical research, but he says even some scientists involved in embryonic stem-cell research say it will result in nothing useful.
 
“There’s one scientist who wants to make a mouse with a human brain, or others who want to grow human eggs or sperm in mice and rats for experiments,” Prentice adds.
 
He fears the experiments will make humans less human and claims proponents are trying to “play God.” “We need to channel science into valid and ethical research, and it’s certainly not these human-animal hybrids,” Prentice concludes.
 
Prentice still supports adult stem-cell research, which has proven useful in treating more than 70 diseases and medical conditions.

Yeah, but they might have a hard time keeping this from the military.

The six Chinese monitoring sites will include gravimeters and pendulums, and will encompass a large enough area (3000 kilometers between those that are farthest apart) that local changes in weather or problems with instrumentation should be ruled out. If General Relativity is in need of a tweak, these results could provide a clue.

This is the first I’ve heard of this anomaly. Wouldn’t it be great if the Chinese discovered some anomalous effect? Would we have to change Einstein’s General Relativity?

I wonder if it’s because the Sun and the Moon appear to be the same size, thus enabling the total solar eclipse effect to begin with?

The above was a quote from the December 1969 issue of the The New Age Magazine, the official magazine of the Supreme Council 33° A.&A. Scottish Rite of Freemasonry of the Southern Jurisdiction, Washington, D.C. (See the details here.) Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr., 32°, visited the Scottish Rite headquarters at the House of the Temple in Washington, September 16, 1969, after the historic moon landing of Apollo 11, and brought back the Freemasonic flag that he took with him to the moon.

The Apollo program was rife with Masons; they were proud of being involved, and weren’t shy about advertising the fact.

In the November 1969 edition of The New Age Magazine, there is an extensive article by Kenneth S. Kleinknecht, 33°, the Manager of the Apollo Program Command and Service Modules; Deputy Manager, Gemini Program; Manager, Project Mercury.

On page 13, we read:

Note how many of the astronauts themselves are Brother Masons: Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr.; L. Gordon Cooper, Jr.; Donn F. Eisle; Walter M. Schirra; Thomas P. Stafford; Edgar D. Mitchell, and Paul J. Weitz. Before his tragic death in a flash fire at Cape Kennedy on January 27, 1967, Virgil I. “Gus” Grissom was a Mason, too. Astronaut Gordon Cooper, during his epochal Gemini V spaceflight in August of 1965, carried with him an official Thirty-third Degree Jewel and a Scottish Rite flag. Via the lunar plaque, the Masonic ensignia and flag, and the Masonic astronauts themselves – Masonry already is in the space age. Can we doubt Freemasonry and its spiritual relevance to the modern era when even its material representatives have today made historic inroads into the infinite expanses of outer space?

 

Back then, Freemasonry wasn’t shy about admitting that the “Craft” is essentially a spiritual endeavor, either. In fact, right before Kleinknecht writes some bios on the Masonic astronauts (as well as Mason James Edwin Webb, the NASA administrator from 1961-68), he includes these words: “The mission of the Craft has always been one of salvation, but until now its field of endeavor was the individual and the bringing of him to the light. Masonry cannot think in these terms now. All men everywhere must hear our message or all men everywhere will perish” (ibid., pp. 15-16; my emphasis).

Kenneth S. Kleinknecht, by the way, was/is the brother of C. Fred Kleinknecht, 33°, Sovereign Grand Commander, The Supreme Council, 33° (Mother Council of the World), Southern Jurisdiction, USA, Washington.

New Images of Moon Landing Sites

A US spacecraft has captured images of Apollo landing sites on the Moon, revealing hardware and a trail of footprints left on the lunar surface.

The release of the images coincides with the 40th anniversary of the first manned mission to land on the Moon.

The descent stages from the lunar modules which carried astronauts to and from the Moon can clearly be seen.

The image of the Apollo 14 landing site shows scientific instruments and an astronaut footpath in the lunar dust.

It is the first time hardware left on the Moon by the Apollo missions has been seen from lunar orbit.

The pictures were taken by Nasa’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) spacecraft, which launched on 18 June.

The spacecraft is carrying three cameras on board: one low-resolution wide-angle camera and two high-resolution narrow-angle cameras mounted side-by-side.

These are known collectively as the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Camera (LROC) instrument.

“The LROC team anxiously awaited each image,” said the instrument’s principal investigator Mark Robinson of Arizona State University.

“We were very interested in getting our first peek at the lunar module descent stages just for the thrill – and to see how well the cameras had come into focus. Indeed, the images are fantastic and so is the focus.”

The camera instrument was able to capture five of the six Apollo sites, with the remaining Apollo 12 site expected to be photographed in the coming weeks.

Future LROC images from these sites will have two to three times greater resolution.

The image of the Apollo 14 landing site had a particularly desirable lighting condition that revealed additional details.

The Apollo Lunar Surface Experiment Package, a set of scientific instruments placed by the astronauts at the landing site, is discernable, as are the faint trails between the module and instrument package left by the astronauts’ footprints.

The LRO satellite reached lunar orbit on 23 June and captured the Apollo sites between 11 and 15 July.

Though it had been expected that LRO would be able to resolve the remnants of the Apollo missions, these first images were taken before the spacecraft had reached its final mapping orbit.

Not only do these images reveal the great accomplishments of Apollo, they also show us that lunar exploration continues,” said LRO project scientist Richard Vondrak of Nasa’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, US.

“They demonstrate how LRO will be used to identify the best destinations for the next journeys to the Moon.”

Although the pictures provide a reminder of past lunar exploration, LRO’s primary focus is on paving the way for the future.

Data returned by the mission will help Nasa identify safe landing sites for future explorers, locate potential resources, describe the Moon’s radiation environment and demonstrate new technologies.

Today is the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing, which was supposed to start the Age 0f Interplanetary Colonization.

Needless to say, that never happened.

Some would say that a moon landing never occurred, thusly that’s why no colonization happened.

Other explanations are among the more mundane; like apathy and lack of funding.

Either way, the past 40 years have been disappointing as far as space exploration ( human ) is concerned.

Whether the whole thing has been a fraud or not, the people of Earth should demand that exploration of the Universe is the most tantamount thing to ensure future human survival.

Not going silently into that good night like some human-haters suggest we do to ensure ‘Gaia’s’ survival.
