Ancient Indian UFOs and Other Sacred Texts

Being a fan of ancient astronaut theory, I couldn’t help but pick up on this:

A group of anthropologists working with hill tribes in a remote area of India have made a startling discovery: Intricate prehistoric cave paintings depicting aliens and UFO type craft.

The images were found in the Hoshangabad district of the state of Madhya Pradesh only 70 kilometers from the local administrative centre of Raisen. The caves are hidden deep within dense jungle.A clear image of what might be an alien or ET in a space suit can be seen in one cave painting along with a classical flying saucer shaped UFO that appears to be either beaming something down or beaming something up, in what might be an ancient UFO abduction scenario. A force-field or trail of some sort is seen at the rear of the UFO.

Also visible is another object that might depict a wormhole, explaining how aliens were able to reach Earth. This image may lead UFO enthusiasts to conclude that the images might have been drawn with the involvement of aliens themselves.

Local Archaeologist, Mr Wassim Khan, has personally seen the images. He claims that the objects and creatures seen in them are totally anomalous and out of character when compared to other, already discovered, examples of prehistoric cave art depicting ancient life in the area. As such he believes that they might suggest beings from other planets have been interacting with humans since prehistoric times: Adding weight to the ‘ancient astronaut theory’ which postulates that human civilization was established with the assistance of benevolent space-faring aliens.

The classic modern archetypes are depicted in this supposed ‘cave painting’; the UFO, the 1950s style robot and the ‘wormhole.’

Have we always carried these archetypes with us, or are they fakes?

What they said was quite a lot of course; so much that I could never get it all across to you on this blog. I’ve picked three things which were going on regarding entity cases; each of which you may find interesting. The first regards “Hairy Dwarves”, probably no one’s favorite UFOnaut. Dick had a friend and investigations buddy named Don Neill. Neill and Hall were apparently already wondering about the true nature of certain “UFO” encounters. Neill was reading Bernard Heuvelmans’ On The Track Of Unknown Animals [what might be regarded as Cryptozoology’s foundational text], and focussed on the chapter entitled, “The Little Hairy Men”. Dick says to Isabel: “One incident describes an attack from behind on human beings reminiscent of the Venezuela affair.” Dick, surprisingly, seems here to be willing to entertain the hypothesis that some UFO cases may be more in the line of productions by long-term “folkloric” entities known by other names for ages. We don’t have Isabel’s return letter on this [believe me, I’m sorrier about that than you are]. But right at that moment, she was shaking her head about a set of cases which were coming to CSI that seemed to multiply the variety of entities beyond all sense. [And her big work on the Kelly “hobgoblins” was certainly in this mode]. We’ll look into a couple of these other cases later in this post.

Dick’s flirtation with the idea that the Hairy Dwarves may have owed something to folklore entities would have been easy to circumstantially defend. We have today turned the folkloric entity “Brownie” into a cute little fairy handful-sized and basically friendly. That concept owes to writers like Palmer Cox, who constantly wrote charming fiction about such lovable creatures. The folklore about these critters is somewhat different. They are described as smaller-than-humans but not much [perhaps four foot high] and of definite brown skin, and covered with thick hair–hairy dwarves, in fact. Their behavior might be tolerable, but it depends on which one you encounter and what mood it’s in. Brownies might ignore you or even do you some service; but it’s just as likely that you’re in for mischief. Because they are not of the “handsome” variety of folklore entities, they fall under the general class of the “Bogles”, sometimes said to be led by Puck, with all that entails about behavior. They might be nasty [like bogeymen or bugaboos] or just neutral but dangerous [like The Fenoderee]. It is at least a mind-stretcher to contemplate the [to me] extremely odd Venezuelan part of the 1954 wave in such terms. One wonders how much Dick and Isabel kept things like this in mind.

Other cases were stretching them in other directions. One was the Old Saybrook, CT case. This encounter occurred on December 16,1957 .the witness, a Yale graduate with two degrees, Mrs. Mary Starr, did not report the sighting immediately [she was living in a cottage on the Connecticut side of Long Island sound, the other cottages were unoccupied at that time of year, and she was concerned that there would be no other witnesses to back up her story]. Nevertheless, in September of 1958, she decided to report to NICAP. Dick Hall fielded the letter and talked to CSI about the event. Dick and Isabel arranged to meet Mrs. Starr at the cottage and take her story. This is what she said: “I was alone that night so I went to bed early, about ten o’clock. Sometime between two and three in the morning, I was awakened by a bright light in my room. I looked out the window and there was what I first thought was a crippled airplane in my back garden. But when I got my eyes really open, I saw it was a cigar-shaped object, brightly lit and with square portholes, hovering above my clothesline. I could see three men inside. An antenna poked up from what seemed to be the tail of this object. There was no sound. After about five minutes, it turned at a right angle and I could see that it was so shallow that the men could not have been more than three and a half or four feet tall. It glided out of my garden, rose almost vertically, and then disappeared.” [These were the quotes in the news story that the Air Force included in the Blue Book file, though it did not bother to investigate]. The rest of the story was published by Isabel in the CSI Newsletter of July 15, 1959. In it Mrs. Starr describes the occupants as having squarish head-gear [possibly robotic] colored orange-red and having an attached bright red bulb. There were no “hands”. When Mrs. Starr leaned forward to get as good a glimpse of the things as she could, the portholes “coincidentally” faded out, and the object began a sparkling brilliance. This led to the retraction of an antenna, and its sharp turn and departure. Dick and Isabel were VERY impressed with the quality of the witness, and CSI published the case with no apologies. NICAP didn’t. Dick wanted to mention it in his famousUFO Evidence, but as it was headed to Congress, only the craft was mentioned without the occupants. Later, NICAP got over some of its hang-ups and published the details in Lore/Keyhoe’s UFOs: A New Look.

The link to Donald Keyhoe is key to the whole thing here.

In my view, this ties in ancient legends to the ‘nuts and bolts’ theory of UFOs.

Good read and a good blog.

The Big Study: Entities and Sacred Texts in 1959

Today’s hat tips go to the Anomalist and The Daily Grail .

Cyclical Singularity

Could zodiacal precessional cycles of our Solar System mark the ascensions and declensions of ‘Singularities’ throughout human history?

And if we do experience a technological singularity within the next 20 years, is it just a repeat of what mankind experienced before?

Discoveries like the ancient Greek Antikythera computer (1500 years before the invention of precision geared devices) the Baghdad batteries (2000 years before Volta “invented” the battery) or dental and brain surgery artifacts found in ancient Pakistan (8000 years out of historical sequence) appear “anomalous” within our current paradigm of history. However, they are not unexpected according to the ancient cyclical view.

Giorgio de Santillana, the former professor of the history of science at MIT, tells us that most ancient cultures believed consciousness and history were not linear but cyclical, meaning they would rise and fall over long periods of times. In his landmark work, Hamlet’s Mill, Giorgio and co-author Hertha von Dechend showed that the myth and folklore of over 30 ancient cultures around the world spoke of a vast cycle of time with alternating Dark and Golden Ages that move with the precession of the equinox. Plato called this the Great Year.

Although the idea of a great cycle timed by the slow precession of the equinox was common to multiple cultures before the Christian era most of us were taught this is just a fairytale; there was no Golden Age. However, an increasing body of new astronomical and archaeological evidence suggests the cycle may have a basis in fact. More importantly, understanding the cycle might provide insight into where society is headed at this time and why consciousness may be expanding at an exponential rate. Understanding the cause of precession is key to understanding the cycle.

The standard theory of precession says it is principally the Moon’s gravity acting upon the oblate Earth that must be the cause of the Earth’s changing orientation to inertial space, a.k.a. the “precession of the equinox.” However, ancient sources say the observation of an equinox slowly moving or “precessing” through the twelve constellations of the zodiac is simply due to the motion of the solar system through space (changing our viewpoint from Earth). Here at the Binary Research Institute, we have modeled a moving solar system and found it does indeed better produce the precession observable and resolves a number of solar system anomalies such as the uneven distribution of angular momentum within the solar system and the variable rate of precession. Beyond the technical considerations, a moving solar system might provide a logical reason why we have a Great Year with alternating Dark and Golden Ages. That is, if the solar system carrying the Earth actually moves in a huge orbit, subjecting the Earth to the electromagnetic (EM) spectrum of another star or EM source along the way, we could expect this would affect our magnetosphere, ionosphere and indirectly all life in a pattern commensurate with that orbit. Just as the Earth’s smaller diurnal and annual motions produce the cycles of day and night and the seasons (both due to the Earth’s changing position in relation to the EM spectrum of the Sun), so might the larger celestial motion be expected to produce a cycle that affects life and consciousness on a grand scale.

The hypothesis for how consciousness would be affected in such a celestial cycle builds on the work of Dr. Valerie Hunt, a former professor of physiology at UCLA. In a number of studies she has found that changes in the ambient EM field (that surrounds us all the time) can dramatically affect human cognition and performance. In short, consciousness is affected by immersion in EM fields. Consequently, the concept behind the Great Year or cyclical model of history, consistent with myth and folklore, is based on the Sun’s motion through space, subjecting the Earth to waxing and waning stellar fields (all stars are huge generators of EM spectrum), resulting in the legendary rise and fall of the ages over great epochs of time.

In Lost Star of Myth and Time, we looked at some of the ancient myths about rising and falling ages tied to the precession cycle, explored current precession anomalies, outlined a dynamic solar system model that better explains the precession observable, and suggested a hypothesis for how a change in proximity to stellar-generated electro-magnetic fields might be the mechanism that induces cyclical changes on Earth. Here we would like to use this model as a guide to better understand where we have been in terms of consciousness and ancient civilizations in the past, and more importantly, where we are going in the future. As Graham Hancock stated, this “new — or very old — approach to the greatest problems of human history” could be “the “key to the mystery of the ages.”

The idea of cyclical history is accepted more than it used to be. As the author noted, the mainstream idea of Sumerian and Egyptian civilizations popping up fully formed from the dusts of antiquity has been taking a lot of hits lately and the evidence that ancient peoples constructed vast projects without written instructions or warfare is now coming to the fore. The six pyramids in Peru are just a few. The findings in Turkey of Gobekli Tepe provide proof that the concept of monumental stone-works predate the so-called “birth of civilization” by some 6,000 years and it’s anyone’s guess why these constructs exist.

Some would argue the case of Peak Oil, budget deficits, wars, criminal extortion of taxes and other myriad ills are leading to a collapse of civilization and that could happen. But if the precessional cycle theory holds weight, we are still on the upswing and these issues will pass like dandelion seeds in the wind.

Does time exist at all?

For humans, it’s just a day at a ‘time.’

Atlantis and Heavy Stuff

A “grid of streets” on the seabed at one of the proposed locations of the lost city of Atlantis has been spotted on Google Ocean.

The network of criss-cross lines is 620 miles off the coast of north west Africa near the Canary Islands on the floor of the Atlantic Ocean.

The perfect rectangle – which is around the size of Wales – was noticed on the search giant’s underwater exploration tool by an aeronautical engineer who claims it looks like an “aerial map” of a city.

The underwater image can be found at the co-ordinates 31 15’15.53N 24 15’30.53W.

Last night Atlantis experts said that the unexplained grid is located at one of the possible sites of the legendary island, which was described by the ancient Greek philosopher Plato.

According to his account, the city sank beneath the ocean after its residents made a failed effort to conquer Athens around 9000 BC.

This would be one of the most important archeological finds in 100 years if this proves to be true. Mainstream archeologists would be forced to rewrite history; from the Sumerians and Egyptians to the present.

Of course there will be those who poo-poo this as natural or fake.

Grants and tenures will be on the line here.

The Heavy Stuff:

THS, when mentioning different entity types,  wasn’t referring about the internet speculation (with some added  fantasy perhaps) that multiple alien races are here, permenantly,  in Earth’s biosphere and are probably interacting with humans (some say dozens of races). No, what THS was and is referring to  is `spaces’* (entities) which do not have an equal `basis’ of `common reality’ grounding – compared to a human. (Wordy, THS knows, but we will get much more specific in a bit.) Let THS attempt to explain:

[* Remember, much of the Phillips Phenomenology (PP) positions `space’ as a characteristic which must be actualized for an event to occur. The PP describes `different types of spaces’ – and where they occur.]

Type One – Aliens/Entities

(Real & Travel In Craft)

Type One Properties —> Real `physical’ alien – in the same manner that a human is `physical’ . A being with a birth, and, on-going, contiguous,  `space-time’ reality – rooted in our same human perceived outer reality that we as humans consider a  `common consensus’ – considered by all to be called our `real’** ontology. Type One Aliens are beings that do NOT exceed the speed of light for travel and are beings that travel by craft. They are beings that do not need to `become objective’ to reveal `their reality of space’. They would be beings as trapped in our common reality as we humans are.

**[In other words, if a class of 100 college biology students were asked in an auditorium classroom if any of them thought the lecture was a `being dreamed’ as opposed to being experienced while awake – all would KNOW it wasn’t a dreamstate. (Then again with college students who knows, right?)]

Comment – To humans at our 2009 level of consciousness, these Type One Aliens are the most real and `humanlike’  of all alien types. `They’ will probably have arms, legs, a head, be able to communicate with each other – etc – humanlike characteristics of which humans can identify. Nevertheless, `aliens’ of any sort are inherently scary to most humans, of course.

However, type one beings that travel `anywhere’ in the universe ONLY below the speed of light – can be assumed to be rare; very rare – in ANY one particular location, including Earth. That said, being very rare – in a near infinite universe – does not mean non-existent or impossible. Indeed, while of low probability to be at any one location in the universe – this would be the alien/entity type MOST likely to have an interest in living planets like Earth.

But, would such beings, Type One beings,  be so focused as `being here’ only in the last 60 years? (Or would it be another type of the four entity/alien choices THS will review?) Wouldn’t such type one beings be just as likely to have been here, around Earth, for at least the last few hundred million years? You know, coming and going at will over the millenia – perhaps staying on occasion for eons.

Could we really expect that more than a  handful would be `around’ in any given era like ours? (If they did `stick around’ how many `aliens’ would they need to have a sustainable population?) Could we really expect a huge increase within a short period of 60 years, that we seem to have experienced,  from beings that use  `moving craft’ in a `galaxy’ context? (If there has been such an increase in the last 60 years.)

Indeed, the idea of a sudden increase in `this type’ of alien – a type one alien/entity – just seems unlikely, logically. Why? Well, first, T1 beings living below the `light threshold’ would not even have knowledge of mans recent advancements – outside of a 60 year light cone. Could there really be a significant number of civilizations within 60 years that have humanlike entities that have crafts that go a significant % of the speed of light? And who would want to come HERE if they did have such `slow’ `interstellar’ craft? It simply seems unlikely.

———————–

This is the most intelligent breakdown of the “types” of  “aliens” that permeate our cultures and world consciousness.

Some, like the author mentions, do have some science behind them, like the ‘solid’  creatures who appear and disappear at will. This can be explained by advanced nanotech, or beamed telepresence via quantum entanglement.

Either method requires knowledge of quantum physics well beyond our own, akin to ‘magic’ or ‘supernatural powers.’

DARPA NWO Goodies, Pre-European American Mines and Fishbowl Space Gazing

Archaeology enthusiasts from around the world are gathering in Marquette this weekend to discuss the ancient civilizations of America.

The fourth annual Ancient American Preservation Society Conference on Ancient America began Friday and ends Sunday. Judy Johnson, the 2008 conference chairwoman, said the event will raise funds for the purchase of one of the largest known pieces of float copper discovered in the Keweenaw Peninsula.

“It’s over 99 percent pure copper,” Johnson said of the large metal slab left in the area by a glacier. It “is in danger of being acquired by industry for melting down, for smelting, for industrial purposes.”

The society would like to preserve the float copper as a geological specimen and has already invested $10,000 toward securing it, she said.

However, Johnson said the group has only two years in which to raise the additional $340,000 needed to purchase the more than 50-ton slab.

Johnson and others involved with the AAPS believe the copper found in the Upper Peninsula drew Europeans and Asians to the continent before Columbus visited the Americas.

This is something very interesting, America being exploited for resources, especially copper which was the carbon fiber composite of its day.

That in of itself isn’t odd, it’s the 2000 B.C. date that gets to people!

The Pentagon wants to be able to peer inside your apartment building — picking out where all the major rooms, stairways, and dens of evil-doers are.

The U.S. military is getting better and better at spotting its enemies, when they’re roaming around the streets. But once those foes duck into houses, they become a whole lot harder to spot. That’s why Darpa, the Defense Department’s way-out research arm, is looking to develop a suite of tools for “external sensing deep inside buildings.” The ultimate goal of this Harnessing Infrastructure for Building Reconnaissance (HIBR) project: “reverse the adversaries’ advantage of urban familiarity and sanctuary and provide U.S. Forces with complete above- and below-ground awareness.”

By the end of the project, Darpa wants a set of technologies that can see into a 10-story building with a two-level basement in a “high-density urban block” — and produce a kind of digital blueprint of the place. Using sensors mounted on backpacks, vehicles, or aircraft, the HIBR gear would, hopefully, be able to pick out every room, wall, stairway, and basement in the building — as well as all of the “electrical, plumbing, and installation systems.”

Darpa doesn’t come out and say it openly.  But it appears that the agency wants these HIBR gadgets to be able to track the people inside these buildings, as well. Why else would these sensors be required to “provide real-time updates” once U.S. troops enter the building? Perhaps there’s more about the people-spotting tech, in the “classified appendix” to HIBR’s request for proposals.

I discovered this site over the weekend and does this guy do his research!

If you want to get all kinds of skinny on dirty NWO crap, this is a must see site.

The state of New Mexico hopes to collaborate with two firms to create suborbital vehicles for space tourists. This illustration is one concept for the ship, which will afford passengers a 360° view of space. Armadillo Aerospace plans to build an initial prototype of the vehicle in 2009 and is aiming for crewed suborbital flights in 2010. The reusable vehicles will take off vertically from Spaceport America near Las Cruces, New Mexico. The ships can take two passengers at a time, and tickets will cost an estimated $100,000.

Pretty wild, though I would be spooked by the knowledge that there’s only a few millimeters of film separating me from space.

I wonder what the insurance cost would be for Armadillo Aerospace?

Did I hear someone mention “release forms?”

The Mystery of Gobekli Tepe and its Message to Us

Gobekli Tepe ( Turkish for “hill with a belly” ) is an archeological Neolithic site that was discovered by American Peter Benedict in 1964, but was ignored by American academia until German archeologist Klaus Schmidt from the German Archeological Institute led a team thirty years later to excavate the site.

What was discovered sent mainstreamers into epileptic seizures and outright denial since.

For you see, Gobekli Tepe is one of the first constructed temple sites discovered to this date.

But that’s not the reason mainstream archeologists are ignoring the site, oh no.

The reason, as I see it, and others, is the extreme antiquity of the site.

According to Professor Schmidt, organic material scraped from the “T” shaped monuments radio-carbon dated the site to 10,000 to 8,000 B.C.!

That’s right, 5,000 to 7,000 years before the Egyptian Pyramids, or even Stonehenge !

So you can see how a monkey-wrench was thrown into the contemporary theory that sedentary societies ( farming/early towns ) under a single elite ruler could muster the manpower needed for such demanding construction projects.

The monkey-wrench being that Gobekli Tepe was most certainly constructed by hunter-gatherers !

It’s either that, or entertain the notion that agriculture/farms/towns/cities started earlier than hypothesized!

Already, the proposed date of wheat domestication has been pushed back somewhat by the discovery of the site:

Thus, the complexes originated before the so-called Neolithic Revolution, the beginning of agriculture and animal husbandry, which is assumed to begin after 9,000 BC. But the construction of the Göbekli Tepe complex implies organisation of a degree of complexity not hitherto associated with pre-Neolithic societies. The archaeologists estimate that up to 500 persons were required to extract the 10-20 ton pillars (in fact, some weigh up to 50 tons) from local quarries and move them 100 to 500m to the site.  For sustenance, “wild cereals may have been used more intensely than so far; perhaps they were even deliberately cultivated.” Residential buildings have not been discovered as yet, but there are some “special buildings” which may have served for ritual gatherings.

There is also a theory that the story of the Sumerian creation myths/Biblical Genesis come from this site. There isn’t much empirical proof of such, oral histories passed from generation to generation before they were written down are considered heresay evidence:

Archaeologist Klaus Schmidt downplays extravagant spiritual interpretations of Göbekli Tepe, such as the idea, made popular in the press, that the site is the inspiration for the Biblical Garden of Eden. But he does agree that it was a sanctuary of profound significance in the Neolithic world. He sees it as a key site in understanding the transition from hunting and gathering to agriculture, and from tribal to regional religion.

That being said, the oral and written links between the Garden of Eden tales and the transition between the hunter/gatherer and agricultural societies persist and aren’t easily dismissed:

[…]“To build such a place as this, the hunters must have joined together, in great numbers. After they finished building, they probably congregated for worship, and for funerals. But then they found that they couldn’t feed so many people with the game. So I think they began cultivating the grasses on the hills. Einkorn wheat, a forerunner of domestic wheat, grows wild here. So they domesticated it.” Schmidt looks at the solitary mulberry tree on the hill. “In other words, they began farming to support their religious community. But it was the farming that maybe caused their downfall.”

According to Schmidt, it seems that agriculture began here, in the province immediately surrounding Gobekli, sometime around 8,000BC.

This indeed was one of the very first places in the world where people farmed. We know roughly when and where farming began, because of the archæological evidence: domestication is a shock to the physiology of man and beast. The skeletons of people change, they temporarily grow smaller and less healthy, as the human body adapts to a protein-poorer diet and a more arduous lifestyle. Likewise, newly domesticated animals get scrawnier at first.

But 8,000BC, it seems, was also the time when the local landscape began to alter. As the trees were chopped down, and the soil leached away, the area became arid and bare. What was once a glorious pastoral region of forests and meadows, rich with game and wild grasses, became a toilsome place that had to be worked ever harder.

Schmidt and I descend a ladder to the floor of the dig, where the ancient dust is banked against the T-stones. He continues: “The really strange thing is that in 8,000BC, during the shift to agriculture, Gobekli Tepe was buried. I mean deliberately – not in a mudslide. For some reason the hunters, or the ex-hunters, decided to entomb the entire site in soil. The earth we are removing from the stones was put here by man himself: all these hills are artificial.”

The link is becoming irresistible: a lost paradise, a forsaken lifestyle, a terrible ‘mistake’, even a solitary tree. Could there really be a connection between Gobekli Tepe and the Garden of Eden story…?

This is not the first time this hypothesis was made. I remember watching a documentary about Stonehenge on the Science Channel last year and proposed theories why lunar calculations were a big deal at the site when solar calendars and relationships to the northern growing season mattered. The theory was that when these people were still hunter-gatherers, they hunted at night and needed to know when the phases of the Moon occurred.

Kind of like a “legacy” system.

And memories of a more “simpler” time perhaps.

It makes sense. Hunting at night during times of the half to full Moon provides just enough light to see by.

And to catch unsuspecting prey animals off-guard.

But when agriculture came along, with its adherence to a “day to night” time keeping schedule because of working the crops and domesticating/maintaining livestock, a different means of keeping and measuring cycles needed to happen.

Thus, our present means of solar-based timekeeping and seasonal measurement was born.

These events believe it or not was traumatic to our peaceful hunter-gatherer ancestors. A whole new way of life was evolving and certain groups of people and animals didn’t survive the transition.

Along with the Ice Ages ending around the 10,000 B.C. time-frame and possible local environmental changes nascent agriculture might have been causing, well it’s no wonder that stories and legends of more pristine, pure/innocent times were passed on.

Now, after our present means of civilization has grown up from these events, the agricultural town/city/nation-state model of coveting and stealing our neighbor’s property after we used up our own backyard has brought us to these precipitous times, the culmination of 6,000 years of collective “materialistic” knowledge so to speak, we must ask ourselves these very same questions our pre-Neolithic hunter-gatherer ancestors must have asked asked themselves:

“Is this truly what we want? Is this what life is? Are we any better off than when we hunted the Mammoth, Deer and Bear?”

A paradigm shift is coming our way again, Armageddon, 2012 and the Apocalypse not withstanding.

What legends and tales will we be passing on down the line 6,000 years hence?
